Research and development/empirical research/ocean survey
seaweed collection
Mother algae for culturing seedlings are collected from seas around the country with the cooperation of local fishermen and others. This division is led by ecological researchers who have been conducting field research for over 50 years, and is essential for establishing new seed production.
Seed production
Seedlings are produced from collected mother algae. It is the main product in our own laboratories across the country.Suji-AonoriIn addition to producing seaweed seeds, we are also working on the development of new seaweed seed production technology for which no technology has been established so far. The seeds and seedlings produced are delivered to production areas across the country and grown together with fishermen.
Equipment development and research
We are working on developing equipment suitable for cultivating seaweed and analyzing water quality and nutrients. Members in charge of equipment develop cultivation equipment suitable for each type of seaweed together with external partners, and have obtained multiple patents. We also have experts in water quality and nutritional analysis who are conducting daily research to grow higher quality seaweed.
ecosystem survey
In order to demonstrate the potential of "aquaculture beds" to combat rock denudation caused by feeding damage caused by rising seawater temperatures, the Nippon Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation, and Good Sea General Incorporated Association We are cooperating with quantitative research on the positive impact that seaweed cultivation has on the ecosystem. In addition, we are also conducting a survey on the dietary culture of seaweed.
our strengths
Specialists from various fields gather
A variety of specialists have gathered together, including experts who have been diving in the seas around Japan to collect and classify seaweed for nearly 50 years, researchers who have been working on algae seed production for many years, and experts in water quality and nutritional analysis. In collaboration with outside researchers, we work across disciplines, from basic research on seaweed to establishing cultivation techniques. In 2016, he succeeded in growing green seaweed on land using underground seawater for the first time in the world. Currently, it is said to be the largest producer of seaweed on land in the world. (As of December 2025)
More than 30 types of seaweed for which seed production technology has been established
Sea VegetableThe laboratory houses more than 100 types of seaweed that have the potential for future research. We have established the technology for over 30 of these varieties, including those for which seed production technology has not yet been established.

Flow of seaweed research and cultivation
In response to a request from Nishiizu Town, we began producing seaweed in the relevant area.
First, we conducted a diving survey to understand the environment of the relevant sea area. Based on the survey results, we select multiple seaweeds that are expected to grow and conduct cultivation tests to identify suitable varieties.
[2nd year]For the seaweed that was confirmed to grow in the first year, we conducted production tests with a view to mass production, including net culture, rope culture, and cage culture. Evaluate productivity per unit area in sea areas.
[3rd year]In the next two years, we will expand the cultivation area using established production methods and begin full-scale production. In preparation for full-scale production, we will transfer know-how to fishermen and acquire fishing rights.
