We are looking for new team members in the fields of seaweed research, production, sales, project management, and back office support.

At Sea Vegetable, we have a diverse team of specialists, including researchers, chefs, product developers, and logistics professionals. Whether you're in your 20s and ready to take on a core role, or in your 70s and navigating Slack as part of our administrative team, we welcome people from all walks of life. Many of us enjoy flexible working styles that adapt to life stage and environment, and we have both full-time employees and those involved in side projects or contracts.

Our team members come from a variety of backgrounds—some have spent years in the fisheries industry, others have pivoted from forestry to become production managers after falling in love with the sea, and some only discovered the world of seaweed after joining Sea Vegetable. What unites us is our shared passion for the business and our ability to take initiative in our respective fields.

Industry experience is not required, but we especially welcome those with specialized skills or a flexible, adaptable approach to work. If you're even a little interested in Sea Vegetable's mission, we'd love to meet you at our recruitment event.

We are passionate about integrating seaweed into everyday meals and creating a future where both the ocean and people thrive through the power of seaweed.

Sea Vegetable started with the mission of restoring and cultivating seaweed species that were once abundant but have become scarce. We focus on developing new ways to cultivate seaweed, both on land and in the sea. This includes research, seedling cultivation, equipment development, water quality analysis, test production, harvesting, product development, and sales. Along the way, we collaborate with local fishermen, equipment developers, chefs, and other partners to enrich marine ecosystems and bring the benefits of seaweed to the table.

At Sea Vegetable, each member plays an important role, contributing their skills and expertise. Many of our team members work from various locations across Japan and sometimes travel to different production sites. We use tools like Slack and video conferencing to stay connected and work collaboratively, allowing everyone to take ownership of their tasks. We are currently seeking members for roles in research, production, equipment development, communication (sales, PR, marketing), project management, and back office functions. Industry experience is not a requirement for all positions—if you have expertise in a specific area, we would love to hear from you.

Sea Vegetable is engaged in both ocean surface cultivation of seaweed to enrich marine ecosystems and land-based cultivation to connect with food culture, with multiple locations across the country. The specific workplace will be decided through consultation between the teams. 

・Production site leader/manager candidates for land-based cultivation
・Responsible individuals for seaweed production in collaboration with local fishermen on the ocean surface
・Researchers and testers in algae cultivation (with a variety of roles)
・Communication roles (sales, public relations, marketing)

・Project management
・Administrative support for production/research (remote work available)
・Back office support for marine research projects (remote work available)

In addition to delivering delicious seaweed to businesses like restaurants and manufacturers, we also run pop-up stores and other events to help consumers experience the best ways to enjoy seaweed.

・Planning, progress management, and execution of various projects
・Marketing and sales (domestic and international)
・Quality control and nutritional content analysis
・Public relations
・Others

・Have an interest in seaweed and are eager to work with it (no industry experience required)
・Share a passion for Sea Vegetable's mission and approach, and are ready to take ownership of their work
・Have experience working in teams or managing projects
・Enjoy being on the ground and are agile, willing to travel (recommended)
・Enjoy communicating with people of various backgrounds and positions
・Have basic computer skills (for online meetings and communication tools)

Compensation is negotiable
・Compensation and working hours are open for discussion
※A paid training period of approximately 2 months is required. After the interview, compensation and working hours will be discussed based on the fit
※Working hours can be flexible, ranging from part-time to full-time
