【Sea Vegtable Meetup Event】Join Us in Exploring the World of Seaweed

Our journey began with the exploration and cultivation of seaweeds that were once abundant but are now scarce or overlooked. From harvesting and cultivation to product development, sales, and culinary innovation, we are committed to every step of the process. Collaborating with fishermen, facility developers, and chefs who share our passion for seaweed, we aim to enrich marine ecosystems and promote sustainable consumption.

In response to growing interest in nature-positive initiatives and the untapped potential of seaweeds as a culinary delight, we are launching several projects simultaneously. As part of this endeavor, we are excited to invite individuals to join our team and contribute to our mission. Through this Meetup event, we look forward to meeting like-minded individuals who share our curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring the possibilities of seaweed. This casual gathering provides an opportunity to learn more about each other. Unlocking Future Opportunities Through Challenges

Sea Vegtable is dedicated to revitalizing seaweed cultivation, leveraging both land-based and sea-based methods. In Japan, where over 1,500 seaweed species exist, only a fraction is commonly consumed, leaving vast potential untapped. Our mission is twofold: preserving traditional seaweed consumption while pioneering new culinary horizons to create a better future for both the oceans and humanity.

Revolutionizing Seaweed Cultivation:

Our efforts focus on cultivating premium Suji-Aonori seaweed using mineral-rich underground seawater, a world-first technique. In regions like Kochi Prefecture's Shimanto River basin, where seaweed harvesting has declined due to rising water temperatures, our innovative land-based cultivation methods ensure a stable supply of high-quality Suji-Aonori year-round.

Enhancing Marine Ecosystems Through Marine-based Cultivation:

Seaweed beds play a vital role in marine ecosystems, nurturing a diverse range of aquatic life. However, rising sea temperatures have extended periods of high fish and sea urchin activity, leading to widespread damage to seaweed beds. By cultivating seaweed at sea, we aim to mitigate these challenges, identifying suitable areas and species to promote biodiversity and restore marine habitats.

Through our research and production efforts nationwide, we aim to reintroduce seaweeds that were once abundant but have since become scarce or overlooked. These efforts extend beyond businesses to include consumers, restaurants, and hotels, fostering a renewed appreciation for the culinary and ecological benefits of seaweeds.
