Sea Vegetable and Panasonic Holdings Sign Joint Demonstration Agreement to Address Social Challenges Through Seaweed Cultivation

Sea Vegetable LLC and Panasonic Holdings Corporation have entered into a joint demonstration agreement to explore the potential of addressing social challenges through seaweed cultivation. These challenges include preserving and restoring marine biodiversity, tackling food supply issues, promoting health, and reducing CO2 emissions.

Under this agreement, Panasonic HD, with its expertise and know-how in robotics, IoT technologies, and manufacturing developed over many years, will collaborate with Sea Vegetable, which has successfully developed aquaculture technologies and facilities for cultivating rare seaweed species such as Suji-Aonori, whose natural production is very limited, and Tosaka-Nori, a species listed as near-threatened. Together, the two companies will combine their strengths to explore opportunities for reducing environmental impact and stabilizing food supply chains.

The outline of the joint demonstration project under this agreement is as follows:

Scope of the Demonstration

Application of Panasonic HD Technologies: Investigating the applicability of Panasonic HD’s robotics and IoT technologies to Sea Vegetable’s aquaculture facilities, to enhance production efficiency.

Consumer Behavior Analysis: Studying the acceptability and behavior changes among Panasonic HD employees when exposed to seaweed-based products developed by Sea Vegetable.

Promoting Nature-Positive Awareness: Facilitating biodiversity conservation and restoration while fostering entrepreneurial and innovative mindsets through personnel exchanges.
