Young Hijiki with Cod Roe and Carrot Mix

Try adding Young Hijiki to the classic cod roe and carrot mix! A perfect dish for steaming hot rice or even mixed into onigiri!

Ingredients (3-4 servings):

 

  • Young Hijiki: 7g (before rehydrating) *It will expand to about 2-3 times after soaking)
  • Cod roe (remove the skin): 40g
  • Carrot (finely chopped): 70g
  • Sesame oil: 1 tsp

 

How to:

  1. Soak Young Hijiki in water for 6 minutes to rehydrate.
  2. In a deep frying pan, heat the sesame oil over low heat. Add the chopped carrots and sauté for about 2 minutes.
  3. Add the cod roe and cook until it turns white.
  4. Add the prepared Young Hijiki to the pan, mix well, and remove from heat.
  5. Serve this delicious mix over freshly cooked rice or use it as a filling for onigiri (rice ball). Enjoy!
